If you have a large backlink increase in a short time, you may not actually benefit from it, you may even rank worse than you started with! The question is, why would Google do such a thing?

Well their reason for it seems to be that they want to stop un-natural link building, so they can keep their Search Engine rankings as natural as possible. An interesting comment was seen on Digital Point Forums. The poster said that this isn’t really a valid reason because this is what happens naturally - Someone publishes great content and then everyone links to it (A huge increase of backlinks) and then it suddenly dies off. Of course this can’t be classed as un-natural, can it?

Another worrying point is that if you’re in a market with a lot of competitors and you’re doing well, then obviously the tough competition is going to try to knock you back, and some may delibrately do a lot of link building for you so that you get penalized! That seems very unfair on you, but it just shows how possible it is with Googles apparent “Natural” Search Engine Results.

In conclusion, try to build links slowly and not all at once, or you could be punished by Google. This is only a short post, but it covers a short issue.

Here are the important 8 tips:

  1. Getting a Unique Web Design is essential. First of all, users like to see a design on a site that hasn’t been published on thousands of other sites. It also means that it probably won’t have copyright links to the designer too meaning less outgoing links. This tip is for more than just Ranking high in Google.
  2. Avoiding keyword spamming is essential. For example, in your Meta tags, don’t put in hundreds of Meta keywords because Google class this as keyword spamming. Try to keep them short and relevant to your website.
  3. Continuously build links steadily and slowly everyday. Google will see this naturally, and you won’t get anywhere on Google without backlinks. If you continue to build links from the first day, you should see gradual improvements until you get where you want to be.
  4. Getting backlinks from websites with authority will also help. Backlinks from .edu domains will probably be seen as some sort of authority, so try to build some from these. Get backlinks from as many large sites as possible.
  5. Don’t link to bad neighbourhoods, and don’t link build from bad neighbourhoods either. For example, you don’t want lots of backlinks (Or links to) websites that Google doesn’t like, or you’ll get harmed too.
  6. Keep improving your content all of the time - Add new content daily and make it fresh content. This will help your traffic as well as your rankings. Google likes to see new content.
  7. Build quality pages on your website. If people see interesting content that they want to see, you’ll probably find that people link to your content themselves, meaning the job of link building is much easier for you.
  8. Once you’ve published another page, keep building links to each individual page too and make sure that that individual page ranks. You don’t just want your homepage to rank well, you should want all of your pages to do well. You’ll get more traffic that way.
I hope this tutorial will help you to get some good rank in google.
